The most common problem with any oven is that they might not turn on. Yet, the reasons for your oven not heating might be various. The key to the problem’s solution lies in understanding its reasons. Indeed, this problem often occurs suddenly at the least pleasant moment, when you have to cook for some celebration or decide to bake a pie. And suddenly you realize that your dish has been in the oven nearly for an hour, yet there’s no progress in cooking.
When you face such a problem in a gas oven it is usually clear from the start that something is wrong, as it simply won’t light up. But when it comes to electric models, things are a bit more complicated. If the problem deals with the oven heating element, it might be the hardest issue to cope with. Below we will show you the list of the most common reasons for ovens not heating.
The reasons why your Bosch oven is not heating up
There can be some issues with the heating element, the thermostat, the switch regulator etc. Now, let’s check the top of the most common reasons which might cause issues with your oven heating up.
Heating element issue. When the bottom heat element of the oven heats up properly, it glows red hot. If the element is not hot, then it means that it is not heated. Often, if a heating element burns out, it will be visibly damaged.
Thermostat issue. One day the oven might warm up too much, the other it barely bakes and constantly turns off. Sometimes it doesn’t heat up at all. All of this indicates that the temperature sensor is damaged. A faulty temperature sensor does not transmit temperature data to the control module, and it naturally turns off the burner or the entire stove in order to avoid damage to other stove components due to overheating. It is worse if the sensor works, but incorrectly: then overheating is quite possible with all the ensuing sad consequences.
Switch/regulator issue. The handle which is intended to turn on the oven and switch modes can also fail. Technically, the device will work, but it will not work without a handle.
Spark ignition electrode for upper and lower burners. A spark ignition electrode is used to ignite the oven burner. The electrode is located next to the burner and works like a spark plug. If the electrode is broken or worn, then the spark may not form.
Sensor failure. A defective temperature control sensor in a touch plate will lead to the same consequences as a broken mechanical power switch.

How to fix a Bosch oven?
So, how can you fix all of these problems? Well, as we have said before to find out the solution to the problem, first you should understand its reasons. That’s why a proper examination is important here. When you know what’s wrong with the oven and the reasons for the breakage, it’s time to find out how to solve the issues.
Oven heat element issue. To find out you should call the master to inspect it for holes or burns. To determine if the lower heater is burned out, professionals usually use a multimeter to test it. If the continuity of the heating element is broken, replace it.
Oven thermostat issue. Before replacing the oven thermostat, first check the components that break more often, in particular the igniter and heating elements. If these components are not damaged, then the temperature controller may be defective. The temperature control thermostat cannot be easily tested. If you suspect the thermostat is defective, replace it. If you notice that the burner turns off quickly, or, even more so, if it is clearly overheating, you should urgently call a specialist who will understand the causes of the problem.
Switch/regulator issue. Usually, it breaks after getting water or dirt, then it can be restored if it is cleaned well. This breakdown is relevant for the owners of Bosch ovens. One of the most common reasons why the burner does not turn on is a malfunction of the switch that regulates its heating. Long service life under severe conditions of high temperatures may weaken the contact springs, or the contacts themselves may burn. A defective switch must be replaced.
Spark ignition electrode for upper and lower burners. To determine if the igniter is broken, observe it while the oven is on. If the igniter (lighter) glows for more than 90 seconds without ignition of electric surface, this means that the igniter is too weak to open the valve, so it should be replaced. If the igniter does not glow at all, then use a multimeter to check its integrity. If the igniter does not have continuity, replace it.
Sensor failure. Fixing something in the Bosch oven touch panel yourself is much more difficult – here you can’t do without a good knowledge of the electrical circuit of the stove and special diagnostic equipment.
